27 Oct 2014

To be set in a unique masterwork in celebration of brand's 85th anniversary

Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Limited ("Chow Tai Fook" or the "Company"; collectively with its subsidiaries, the "Group"; HKEx Stock Code: 1929), the world's largest pure-play jeweller by market capitalisation with 85 years of heritage, next month will unveil the "Cullinan Heritage 1", a 104-carat D colour internally flawless round brilliant-cut diamond. Alongside other diamonds also cut from the same 507.55 carat Type IIA rough diamond known as the Cullinan Heritage, it will be set in a masterwork uniquely designed for Chow Tai Fook by a world-renowned jewellery artist. The final piece will be revealed on 28 November at a celebration held in honour of Chow Tai Fook's 85th anniversary.

Since Chow Tai Fook acquired the Cullinan Heritage for HK$275 million at an auction in 2010, the company's craftsmen have spent three years at facilities in South Africa meticulously analysing and perfecting their approach to cutting and polishing the piece. In keeping with its traditional pursuit of perfection, Chow Tai Fook has shaped the "Cullinan Heritage 1" in a round brilliant cut, eschewing more common and higher-carat alternatives. When combined into the final work of art, this singular decision will shine as a reminder of its brand values of "Sincerity • Eternity."

"We could not be more excited to become part of the Cullinan legend, and we look forward to sharing the birth of this masterpiece with the world," said Dr. Henry Cheng, Chairman, Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Limited. "The finished piece will represent the full force of our expertise at every stage of the process of creating diamond jewellery – from the sourcing of the best rough stones, to their expert cutting and polishing and, of course finally, designing and setting them with exceptional artistry."

The Cullinan Heritage is among the rarest and most valuable diamonds ever discovered, as well as the most exquisite now in Chow Tai Fook's extensive collection. Certified by FOREVERMARK, it also holds the distinction of being the largest of its grade to have been recovered since 1986 from the Cullinan Mine in South Africa, from where many of the world's largest and most important diamonds have been unearthed, including the world's largest rough diamond, the Cullinan, which was cut and mounted in the British Crown Jewels. As the market leader, Chow Tai Fook will revive the Cullinan legend with its Cullinan Heritage and shine on the world stage.

"As we celebrate our 85th anniversary this year, all of us at Chow Tai Fook are proud to mark the occasion with the unveiling of this magnificent masterpiece," added Dr. Cheng. "The Cullinan Heritage jewellery by Chow Tai Fook will stand the test of time as the embodiment of our values: sharing the beauty of Chinese culture with the world, producing works of only the highest quality and imbuing each of our creations with novelty, excitement and the pursuit of perfection."
