Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Supports Palace Museum Ancient Greece Civilisation Special Exhibition Promoting Cultural Exchange
30 Apr 2025

With 96 years of history, Chow Tai Fook Jewellery is unwavering in unveiling the exquisite beauty of Chinese jewellery to the world. Sharing the same level of respect and commitment to craftsmanship as Daedalus, the Chow Tai fook Jewellery Group has given its full support to the hosting of the special exhibition “Daedalus: Legends of Crete” by the Palace Museum in Beijing.

The Greek mythology inspired exhibition, open from 15 April until 27 July 2025 at the Exhibition Hall of the Gate of Divine Prowess in the Palace Museum, is jointly organised with Greece’s Ministry of Culture of the Hellenic Republic, General Directorate of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage and Heraklion Archaeological Museum.

Daedalus, the legendary craftsman in Greek mythology, serves as the narrative thread of the special exhibition that explores the mythical and archaeological site of the Palace of Knossos. Moving between myths and archaeology, visitors will be offered a glimpse into the Bronze Age Minoan civilisation.

The collaboration on “Daedalus: Legends of Crete” marks another significant milestone in the strategic partnership between the Group and the Palace Museum. The exhibition sets out to promote cultural heritage, injecting a fresh impetus into exchange beyond borders at the same time as cultivating dialogue among civilisations. Since December 2023, both parties have embarked on close collaboration relating to three key areas; heritage preservation and research, exhibition partnership and creative collaboration. In an ongoing effort to preserve, research and pass on Chinese culture through generations, this partnership breathes new life into many treasured traditions.

Mr. Kent Wong, Managing Director of Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group said, "At this special exhibition hosted in the Palace Museum, without having to travel far, we have the opportunity to appreciate invaluable treasures and get inspired by the eternal charm of ancient Greek civilisation in Beijing. The Group upholds its mission to preserve and promote Chinese culture while showcasing the exquisite beauty of Chinese jewellery to the world, fostering the global recognition and appreciation of Chinese culture and artistry through cultural exchange. We believe that respect for and preservation of culture is not bound by geography. Rather, it is essential for the advancement of civilisation and humanity. As a facilitator and supporter of cultural exchange and appreciation, we strive to prompte and take the Chinese culture to the world.”

As one of the features in the Palace Museum’s centennial anniversary celebrations, academic seminars and educational activities will also be hosted throughout the exhibition period to enhance the public’s understanding of and interest in ancient artefacts. This will also foster exchange and collaboration between China and Greece in the areas of cultural heritage preservation and academic research.
