On 6th March 2024, Mr. Kent Wong, Managing Director of Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group, addressed the opening session of The World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) Presidents’ Meeting 2024 in Shanghai. This year, the meeting was held from 5-7 March. During these three days, participants explored various key topics in the global diamond industry through expert panels, speeches, and discussions.
In his speech, Mr. Wong shared Chow Tai Fook Jewellery’s remarkable 95-year journey with the attendees, showcasing how its leading position in the market is owed to decades of expertise and success. “Over the course of 95 years, the Group has experienced significant growth on an operational scale,” said Mr. Wong. “Throughout this period, we have upheld the traditions of Chinese culture and craftsmanship, while embracing an open and innovative spirit to continuously meet market and consumer demands with our high-quality products and services.”Mr. Wong also noted that the Group had published the “2023 Jewellery Consumer Trends Report” last year, focusing on the perspectives of next-generation Chinese consumers towards jewellery. “We discovered that approximately 60% of consumers in China enjoy wearing natural diamonds every day. We also found that 74% of the respondents find natural diamonds more valuable than lab-grown diamonds,” said Mr. Wong. “We believe that natural diamonds provide distinct value to consumers and are optimistic about the diamond market in China, supported by the continued appetite for diamonds among Chinese consumers.”
Mr. Wong concluded that the industry should come together to share the compelling story of natural diamonds and collectively forge a prosperous future. “Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group will continue collaborating with the industry to raise awareness among young consumers about the rarity and beauty of natural diamonds. This will enhance the desirability to purchase natural diamonds, driving the growth of the industry.”
