Chow Tai Fook Named the "Retailer of the Year" at JNA Awards 2013

Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Limited ("Chow Tai Fook" or the "Company"; collectively with its subsidiaries, the "Group"; HKEx stock code: 1929), the world’s largest pure-play jeweller by market capitalisation with over 80 years’ heritage, is pleased to announce that the Group has clinched the "Retailer of the Year" Award at the second edition of the JNA (Jewellery News Asia) Awards held in Hong Kong, China on 12 September 2013.

Chow Tai Fook is delighted to stand on the stage of JNA Awards again, after receiving the "Brand of the Year – Retail" and "Three Decades of Excellence" Awards in 2012. The "Retailer of the Year" Award recognises the achievements Chow Tai Fook has gained in building a leading position in the jewellery retail sector over the years. The Group continues its commitment to provide customers with the best products, services and shopping experience at the highest standard supported by a team of caring and professional staff.

Chow Tai Fook has an extensive retail network of more than 1,850 points of sale ("POS") spanning over 400 cities in China, Singapore and Malaysia. It is gearing towards its target of reaching a total of 2,000 POS by the end of financial year 2014. The Group was a pioneer in opening the jewellery market in the Mainland of China and the first mover to penetrate into lower tier inland cities. Its visionary move has enabled the Group to build a solid foundation and strong presence in the world’s largest retail market and second largest luxury market. Over 90% of the Group’s POS are located in Mainland Chinese cities. Today, the Group has become the preferred jewellery brand to many Mainland Chinese consumers and captured the largest market share in this major market.

In recent years, the Group accelerates its retail expansion by stepping up its e-commerce in tandem with its POS opening and consolidation strategy. Its online-offline integration approach allows it not only to extend its customer reach further and wider to online shoppers but also to generate online-to-offline synergy beneficial to both physical stores and online platforms. Chow Tai Fook is one of the mostly searched jewellery brands on major Mainland Chinese online platforms such as Baidu and is the best jewellery seller on Taobao Tmall. It is ranked number one for its digital competency and popularity online in two recent surveys by overseas research institutes, namely "Digital IQ Index: China – Watches and Jewellery Supplement 2013" conducted by L2, a research arm of the New York University’s Stern Business School, and "World Luxury Index China 2013" being the most sought after jewellery brand online among all international and local peers in China by an international research and luxury industry market intelligence firm Digital Luxury Group headquartered in Geneva.

The JNA Awards is an industry-wide event that recognises excellence and achievement in the jewellery trade, and honours industry players and individuals for their outstanding performance and significant contributions. The event is organised by Jewellery News Asia (JNA), a trade magazine of UBM Asia’s Jewellery Group first published in 1983 and also launched online in 2011, provides the latest industry updates and in-depth reports, covering the international jewellery trade with an Asian insight.
