Supporting the "Dr. MAC Classroom Reading Programme" and "Learning Living Chinese Programme" to Illuminate the Future through Reading
The "Dr. MAC Classroom Reading Programme” and “Learning Living Chinese Programme”, organised by the Jing Yuan Charity Foundation, aim to promote life education through reading among children and enhance students’ interest in learning Chinese. In support of these initiatives, Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group donated bookshelves to five beneficiary schools, including Buddhist Chung Wah Kornhill Primary School, HKTA Yuen Yuen Institute Shek Wai Kok Primary School, Tsuen Wan Public Ho Chuen Yiu Memorial Primary School, Taoist Ching Chung Primary School, and STFA Leung Kit Wah Primary School, thereby creating richer learning resources for students.
The programmes guide students to explore the meaning of life through reading, fostering positive values while igniting their passion for the Chinese language. The donated bookshelves with illustrated books and Chinese learning materials are not only aligned with local primary and secondary school curricula but also incorporate knowledge of Chinese historical and cultural contexts. Equipped with touch-reading pens, these materials provide easy-to-understand explanations of topics and idioms, enabling students to listen and look simultaneously, thus making the process of learning Chinese enjoyable and engaging. Additionally, the learning materials address gaps in the curriculum, such as proverbs, radicals, and the recognition of Chinese characters, offering various worksheets that progress from simple to complex, helping students solidify their language foundation while enhancing their cultural literacy.
